It is written from inside the Christian faith, not from inside any one church or denomination, and it is not affiliated with any church. It is not a substitute for the Bible, for your church or for your pastor, and it is not pastoral counseling, therapy or professional advice of any kind. Where Christians differ

Christians read many passages of the Bible in more than one way. Where they do, our products say so and describe the readings without taking sides. Authors, dates and historical details are given as tradition and standard references give them; where they are debated, the text says so. For questions of doctrine and practice, follow the teaching of your own church and pastor.

Scripture and the original languages

Scripture quotations are from the King James Version, which is in the public domain in the United States. Hebrew and Greek words are explained from standard lexicons (Brown-Driver-Briggs for Hebrew, Thayer for Greek) and checked against the original text of the verses they come from. Every reference is given by book, chapter and verse, so the guides work with any translation; the wording of your Bible may differ from the quotations.

About the images

Photographs on our site and in our advertising illustrate how the products are used. They are styled for publication and may be created or edited digitally. The illustrations in our books are an artist's way of imagining a scene: the Bible rarely tells us what people looked like. Page images show our products; the files you receive may differ in minor details from one edition to the next.

Any stories or examples in our products or advertising are illustrative. Where we show a customer's words, they are that person's own experience, and yours can differ.
